Halau Hula Olana

In 1975, Howard and Olana A`i established Halau Hula Olana, the School of Living Hula, where hundreds of children ages 6-13 have been instructed by Olana and her family. The halau frequently performs in Hawai`i, and has danced in Europe, Asia, the South Pacific, and across the United States. Each year the halau enters many of Hawai`i's annual hula competitions, including the Queen Lili`uokalani Keiki Hula Festival and the Merrie Monarch Festival, where Howard and Olana's daughter Natalie won the prestigious Miss Aloha Hula title in 1990.

This collection is a musical souvenir of some of the songs the halau most enjoys performing. These songs express the joy of having a Hawaiian heart, which is a universal attribute of love, joy and respect that we all can share. Also included is a history of the halau and photographs of the sparkling eyes and beaming smiles of these poised young dancers in their beautiful costumes.

Featured musicians include Howard and Olana A`i, their daughter Natalie A`i Kamau`u and her husband `Iolani Kamau`u, and sons Tai and Rhett A`i.
