Darlene Ahuna

Darlene Ahuna is one of Hawaii's foremost female vocalists. She is a multiple Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner, including "Female Vocalist of the Year," the highest recognition available from the Hawaiian music industry. Darlene has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City, at festivals, concerts, -and ho`olaulea throughout the United States too numerous to mention, major performances throughout Japan, and of course, extensively throughout the Hawaiian Islands.

"Classic Hula" CD (2001)

This album is a collection of hula standards sung by the Hilo Songbird, a 20 year veteran singer-musician - much of that time having been spent accompanying hula halau in Hawai`i and Japan. Darlene and her trio (husband J.J. Ahuna on bass and Kyle Kaa`a on slack-key guitar) are joined by three of Hawaii's most talented steel guitarists: Alan Akaka of Honolulu, Ken Emerson from Kauai, and Kalei Bridges from the Big Island of Hawaii.
