Brittney `Anelaikalani Jennings, more commonly known as `Anelaikalani, was first introduced to Hawaiian music through Amy Hanaiali`i Gilliom at the age of 10. She found herself captivated and embarked on a quest to learn more, submerging herself in the recordings of the great Hawaiian singers including Gilliom, Lena Machado and Aunty Genoa Keawe.
`Anela attracted the attention of promoter Tom Moffatt, George Chun and Kenneth Makuakane. She released her first album at the age of 12 and her second at the age of 14 - receiving numerous accolades for both endeavors, which included nominations for the prestigious Na Hoku Hanohano Awards.
Now that she has graduated from Castle High School, `Anela has matured and has become more focused than ever at perfecting her craft. Poised to make her mark in the Hawaiian music industry, she has become a diligent student, learning and absorbing all that she can from others in the music field. Among those guiding her along the way is Nalani Olds, a respected vocalist and historian in her own right.
`Anela has also been performing abroad, traveling extensively to Japan over the past year and a half where she has built quite a following. She has been featured in magazine articles as well as video and radio shows. In the process she has been gaining valuable stage experience and expanding her repertoire.
